Ellen Weber is a Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. Her academic interests include emergency department utilisation and operations, quality improvement, informatics and peer review in publication. She is a member of the Royal College of Emergency Physicians, American College of Emergency Physicians and a former board member of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine. Prof Weber is also a visiting professor at Muhimbili National Hospital in Tanzania, teaching research methods and mentors trainees and faculty in research throughout Tanzania. She is a founding author and instructor of the African Federation for Emergency Medicine’s research course.

Edd Carlton (MBChB, FRCEM, PhD) is a Consultant Senior Lecturer of Emergency Medicine at the University of Bristol, current RCEM Professor and Honorary Consultant in Emergency Medicine at Southmead Major Trauma Centre, UK. His interests are in pragmatic emergency randomised trials across a broad spectrum of conditions, with a focus on designing and delivering inclusive and practice changing research.

Dr Sarah Edwards is an Emergency Medicine registrar working in the East Midlands. She is the Social Media Editor and an Associate Editor for the Emergency Medical Journal. She is the Honorary Secretary and a Director for The Association of the Study of Medical Education (ASME). She currently works as a tutor/lecturer for the Medical Education Masters at Sunderland University and. Recently she has become the Clinical Chair for the eLearning committee in the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (RCEM). Her research interests include technology enhanced learning, social media education and game-based education. With a specific interest in qualitative research methodology.

Dr. Kirsty Challen (@KirstyChallen) is a Consultant in Emergency Medicine and EM Research Lead at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Trust. She trained in North West England, acquiring a History of Medicine BSc, a PhD in Health Services Research, an anaesthetist husband and four children along the way. She is Chair of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine Gender Equity Committee, and involved with the RCEM Public Health and Informatics groups. Kirsty regards her inner toddler as a great asset to medicine and continues to ask “but WHY?” She is faculty for the Skeptics Guide to Emergency Medicine and creates the infographics called #PaperinaPic. When not at work she is happiest out running or skiing on a mountain.

Shammi is a Sheffield based Emergency Physician and Hon Professor of emergency medicine, who is also accredited in paediatric emergency medicine. His research interests are Artificial Intelligence, EM Safety, Diagnostics and Urgent Care Health Service Delivery. He is the Trauma and Emergency Care Lead for the NIHR (Y&H) RDN and sits on the RCEM’s Safer Care and Quality committees. Shammi also works in an expert advisory capacity with NICE, MBRRACE-UK, the GMC and NHS Pathways (NHS England). In his free time, he enjoys gardening, DIY and coaching  girls’ football.

Professor Jason Smith joined the Royal Navy and qualified in medicine from Newcastle University in 1992. He underwent specialist training in emergency medicine in London, Plymouth and Sydney; he was appointed as a Consultant at University Hospitals Plymouth, where he still undertakes his clinical practice.

He is an Honorary Professor at the University of Plymouth and is the Emeritus Defence Professor of Emergency Medicine.

He was previously the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the Royal Naval Medical Service and is currently an Associate Editor for both the Emergency Medicine Journal and BMJ Military Health.

Ryan Gibbons Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University Philadelphia, USA
Ryan C. Gibbons, MD, FAAEM, FACEP, FAIUM is a graduate of Temple University SOM, where he completed his EM residency, serving as chief resident, followed by an Advanced Emergency Medicine Ultrasonography fellowship. Currently, Dr. Gibbons is an Associate Professor, the Assistant Dean of Faculty Development, and Director of Ultrasound in UME. He was appointed the inaugural John M. Daly, MD, & Measey Foundation Endowed Professor in Medical Education Innovation for developing a longitudinal ultrasound curriculum. Dr. Gibbons has published over fifty peer-reviewed manuscripts, abstracts, and book chapters. He has given more than one hundred regional, national, and international presentations.
Robert Hirst North Bristol NHS Trust Bristol, UK
Robert Hirst is an emergency medicine registrar currently undertaking paediatric emergency medicine subspecialty training in Bristol. He is the former Trainee Emergency Research Network Fellow (2020-2022). He sits on the EMJ Update editing board and is a decision editor with the EMJ, holds masters qualifications in health ethics & law and medical education and is the host of the RCEMLearning podcast. His research interests lie in diagnostics, staff wellbeing, and major trauma.
Chris Humphries University of Edinburgh Edinburgh, UK
Chris Humphries works clinically and academically in Emergency Medicine and Clinical Toxicology. He has expertise relating to pre-clinical toxicology models, phase 1 and phase 2 clinical trials, and the intersection of Emergency Medicine with both Forensic Medicine and Addiction Medicine. He has an interest in the translation of research findings to national guidelines and policy.
Aileen McCabe Tallaght University Hospital/ Trinity College Dublin Dublin, Ireland
Dr Aileen McCabe is a Consultant in Emergency Medicine at Tallaght University Hospital and a Senior Clinical Lecturer at Trinity College Dublin. She was awarded her PhD from Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2017. Dr. McCabe has published on a broad range of emergency topics including emergency department key performance indicators, eating disorders and quality improvement. Dr McCabe is a member of the Irish Association for Emergency Medicine Clinical Guideline and Academic Committees, Royal College of Emergency Medicine Academic Committee and is a decision editor for the Emergency Medicine Journal.
Tom Roberts Royal College of Emergency Medicine London, UK
Dr Roberts is an Emergency Medicine Registrar based in Bristol, UK. He is a Clinical Lecturer based at the University of Bristol. His research journey began as the inaugural UK Trainee Emergency Research Network (TERN) Fellow in 2018. Since then he has developed wide research interests and has published articles related to acute headache, chest injuries, cross-cultural adaptations, drink spiking, E-scooter injuries and Doctors' mental health. He is keen on developing academic EM in the UK and supporting aspiring EM clinicians to develop their own academic careers.
